Kazakhstan medical course duration: what to check for 2026–27
Understand the Indian Embassy’s October 2026 advisory before relying on a six-year medical programme or fee quotation in Kazakhstan.
What the Embassy advisory says
The Indian Embassy in Astana’s advisory dated 1 October 2026 describes seven years as the standard medical programme from the 2026–27 academic year. It also refers to a possible six-year accelerated route, subject to conditions. At the time of that advisory, official clarification on local licensing for the accelerated route was still awaited.
What this means for your shortlist
Do not assume that a brochure’s six-year structure applies unchanged to your intake. The relevant question is the exact programme you will enter, the qualification you will receive and the registration route available after it. The advisory alone does not establish that a specific NKU offer is eligible or ineligible for an individual Indian applicant.
Request these answers in writing
- The exact programme title and duration for the 2026–27 intake
- Whether the offer follows the standard or accelerated route
- How clinical training and internship are organised
- Whether graduates of that exact route can obtain local registration or licensing
- The full fee and living-cost schedule for every required year
- How the programme meets the Indian rules applicable to your cohort
If you already have a quotation
Keep the quotation, admission letter and programme structure together. Ask the university to reconcile any difference between the quoted years and the current intake rules. A six-year subtotal does not establish the cost of an additional year.
Build a full study budget after the programme structure is clear.
