Jobs Abroad

Plan for blue-collar work abroad

Understand overseas work requirements, recruiter checks and employment contracts before applying for blue-collar jobs abroad.

Start with the work you can demonstrate

Electricians, welders, plumbers, drivers, construction workers and hospitality staff can face very different recruitment requirements. Your trade experience, certificates, practical test, language level and destination determine which opportunities are realistic. These examples describe occupations to research; they are not advertised vacancies.

Choose the occupation before the country

  • Write down your trade, years of relevant experience and the work you can perform independently.
  • Gather certificates and employment records that support that experience.
  • Check whether the destination requires a local licence, trade test or recognised qualification.
  • Compare the actual contract, take-home budget and visa route for a specific offer.

Check a recruiter and offer before paying

For Indian applicants, the Ministry of External Affairs’ eMigrate service is an important starting point for checking registered recruiting agents and emigration requirements. A company name or social-media advert is not enough to establish that an offer is genuine.

Use the overseas job-offer checklist before paying or handing over original documents.

UAE work planning

For UAE employment, review the employer, the official job offer, work-permit route and contract terms together. Read the UAE work information and verify a specific offer with the responsible authority. Availability and employer sponsorship must be confirmed for each role.

What to bring to a counselling discussion

Share your occupation, experience, certificates, passport status, preferred country and any existing offer. UNEXT can help you organise the checks and next questions.
