MBBS in Uzbekistan: Verify Every Detail Before Admission

Indian families considering medical education in Uzbekistan should proceed with particular care. The National Medical Commission issued a specific advisory on 1 April 2026 asking students and parents to follow the FMGL Regulations and exercise utmost caution.

Read the Current NMC Advisory First

The April 2026 NMC advisory refers to earlier public notices and again tells students and parents to complete due diligence before joining an undergraduate medical course in Uzbekistan.

For this reason, UNEXT is not presenting any university below as recommended, approved or automatically suitable for Indian registration. The exact programme and institution must be checked against current NMC requirements and official university documents.

What Official University Pages Currently State

  • Samarkand State Medical University: its Faculty of Medicine page describes General Medicine as a six-year, full-time programme and states that training is conducted in Uzbek, Russian and English. Its FAQ says international students apply for dormitory accommodation through the relevant dean’s office after enrolment.
  • Bukhara State Medical Institute: its official profile lists General Medicine as six years, states that education is provided in Uzbek, Russian, English and Turkish, and says clinical training takes place at clinics and diagnostic centres. Its international admission page describes an interview in biology, chemistry and the chosen teaching language.

These facts come from official university pages, but they do not establish current seat availability, NMC compliance, a complete internship arrangement or suitability for a particular student.

Admission and Language Must Match the Written Offer

Ask the university to confirm the exact programme, intake, teaching language for every year, entrance assessment, curriculum and qualification awarded. Do not assume that the presence of English classes means all academic and clinical training is conducted in English.

Indian applicants must separately check NEET and the requirements that apply to foreign medical graduates for their admission cohort.

Clinical Training and Internship Are Critical

Ask for the names of teaching hospitals or clinical sites, when patient-facing training begins, the language used with patients, supervision arrangements and how practical training is documented.

The university should also explain the internship in writing, including its duration, location, responsible institution and whether completing the programme makes a graduate eligible for registration in Uzbekistan. Do not rely on a verbal assurance.

Fees and Accommodation

Bukhara State Medical Institute states that its international tuition depends on the rector’s decision and can differ by citizenship; the current official page does not provide one universal amount. UNEXT is therefore not publishing a tuition range for Uzbekistan in this guide.

Request the full annual tuition, hostel, food, insurance, documentation, travel and local-living costs in writing. Confirm the payment recipient, refund rules, room allocation and transport to academic and clinical sites.

Parent Verification Checklist

  • Read the April 2026 NMC advisory and current FMGL rules
  • Verify the university and programme on its official website
  • Obtain the complete curriculum and internship plan
  • Confirm the teaching and patient-communication language
  • Ask how professional registration works in Uzbekistan
  • Obtain the complete fee and accommodation schedule
  • Use only written, traceable payment instructions

Official Sources Used

Do not decide from a brochure alone.

Bring the university’s official offer, curriculum, internship plan and fee schedule to a counselling discussion before you pay.
