NMC Eligibility Certificate and FMGE 2026: What Students Abroad Should Check

The 2026 Eligibility Certificate window has closed

The National Medical Commission (NMC) opened its Eligibility Certificate application portal on 1 September 2026 at 10:00 AM and closed it on 30 September 2026 at 6:00 PM. The window is set out in an NMC public notice from the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) issued in August 2026. The window is now closed. Students who did not apply in that period should check with their university and the NMC's current notices, rather than assume that a new window will follow the same dates.

Why the certificate matters for FMGE

The notice states that the Eligibility Certificate is required to appear in the FMGE Screening Test. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) may schedule that test in the coming months. Confirm your own eligibility with the NMC before you pay any examination fee.

What to prepare now

• Keep your degree certificate, transcripts and internship records ready in original and attested copies.
• Write down the exact dates of your course, including any period studied online, because these affect how your case is assessed.
• Save each NMC and NBE notice you rely on, with its date.

Where to get reliable updates

Use the NMC and NBE websites as your primary sources. Messages from agents and social media posts about exam dates are often out of date, so check the official notice before you act on them.
